| ||Position Overview:|
The City of Springfield is seeking a Court Clerk to perform varied clerical court work.
The successful candidate will be part of a fast-paced, professional team that:
Provides excellent customer service and assistance, both on the phone and in person
Accepts and receipts fines, fees, and payments, as well as balances a till
Enters data and works within a database system
Reviews documents for accuracy and completeness
Prepares court documents
Files and scans
Uses copy and fax machines
Rotates assignments and workstations

Those candidates invited to interview will be asked to provide proof of 45 wpm, net typing speed.
Free typing tests are available between 8:00am and 5:00pm at Lane Workforce Network, 2510 Oakmont Way in Eugene (541/686-7601). Check in at reception and ask to take the typing to test to get verification for the City Springfield. Typing verification from an Employment Agency may also be used. Online testing scores will not be accepted, unless they are administered by a reputable agency. Free online typing tests such as 'TypingTest.com' are NOT acceptable. The typing test must be dated within the last 6 months.
Education / Experience:
Any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education and experience may be considered qualifying. Previous court experience is not required.
Associates Degree, or two-year technical and sufficient experience necessitated by competency level;
Minimum of three years (full time equivalency) in an environment with high volume customer service contact, cashiering, high volume data entry, and multi-tasking clerical functions
Preference may be given to candidates who have Spanish language skills.
Licensing and Certification Requirements:
Possession of, or ability to obtain security certification (CJIS) and law enforcement certification (LEDS) within 30 days of hire and maintain certifications throughout the course of employment.
Please note that in order to acquire CJIS certification, the individual cannot have any felony convictions, and any other criminal record is at the discretion of the certifying agency. CJIS requires finger printing as well. And, in order to acquire LEDS certification, the individual must pass CJIS standards and pass an online LEDS certification test within 30 days of hire. Working time is provided to the individual to complete the LEDS certification and training, and on average it takes approximately one week.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of customer service principles and correct public service communication techniques
Basic accounting methods
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Demonstrate organizational, time management, and customer service skills
Defuse angry and/or hostile clientele while using independent judgment to resolve issues
Operate standard office equipment (i.e. fax, copier, etc.)
Prioritize workload without direction
Type 45 words per minute (net speed)
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involved sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
