The City of Springfield's Information Technology (IT) Department is seeking an Information Security Officer (ISO) to proactively manage the City’s Information Security Compliance program for all new and existing information systems. This position has the important role of advancing City business needs while maintaining regulatory compliance.
Examples of ISO Responsibilities Include:
• Serve as the information security officer for all City departments
• Maintain and monitor information security policy compliance
• Establish short and long-range information security strategies and implementation plans
• Oversee City’s IT Asset Management (ITAM) program
• Responsible for security related incident response and escalation
• General management responsibilities such as budget management, project management, and vendor relation management

Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information science, information security, law, or related field, and:
• 5 years of relevant professional experience in information technology or asset management (including at least 2 years of direct program management and/or technical experience in information security, legal analysis, compliance management, asset management or organization change management)
Preferences may be given for:
• Previous public sector experience
• Certification or documented training in relevant security and risk management
• Certification or documented training in relevant project management
• Certification or documented training in relevant asset management
Any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education and experience may be considered qualifying.
Selection and Interview Process:
Top candidates will be invited to interview and complete an exercise involving a short memo and presentation. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for the first week in December (December 3- 7).
As a part of our selection process, it will be necessary for candidates to provide the names and email addresses of up to five professional references (including two managers) that can provide information on work performance. To avoid any delay in the process, we ask candidates to start gathering reference information now (name, email address, contact info and time period you worked together). Additional information regarding reference checking will be emailed to candidates at a later date through the SkillSurvey Pre-Hire 360 system.
